Amid all the links to Jude Bellingham, Klopp was asked if his team can spend £100M on one player. In response, the German gave an interesting answer.

Liverpool return to action in the Premier League this weekend, with the English giants kicking off Matchweek 29 with an early Saturday showdown with Manchester City.

This game will be a tough fixture for the Reds as they will have to visit the Etihad Stadium in what has been a dreadful campaign from the Merseyside giants, especially away from home. Nonetheless, Salah and Co. are still sixth in the table, seven points adrift of the top four with two games in hand on Tottenham.

Much of the conversation surrounding Liverpool has been around their midfield crisis and the club's need to rebuild this summer. Jude Bellingham has been the priority, with Klopp reportedly being a huge admirer of the English teenager.

And speaking ahead of the trip to the Etihad Stadium, the German boss was asked if the Reds, a club that spends modestly in comparison to the two Manchester giants and Chelsea, can splash £100M on one player. This is probably in reference to Bellingham, who will likely become the most expensive midfielder in the world, which could prove troublesome for the Merseyside giants.

While Klopp did not answer this question directly, he assured the fans one thing: we will spend in the summer. Check out the Anfield boss' answer in the clip below.

It remains unclear whether Liverpool can sign the Dortmund sensation given his staggering price tag. Nonetheless, Klopp seems to be suggesting that an overhaul — and a midfield one, in particular — will take place this summer.

Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita have struggled to remain fit all season while Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have declined tremendously. As a result, a lot of responsibility fell on the shoulders of Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic but the latter has since been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain are expected to leave Anfield for free this summer once their contract runs out, which means the club have to recruit new midfielders. Matheus Nunes, Mason Mount, Moises Caicedo, and Declan Rice have also been linked with the Reds
