The Red Devils are reportedly making swift advances to sign one of the most-sought after players in Europe at the moment.

Manchester United have intensified their pursuit of Kim Min-jae, the central defender for Napoli, as they look to strengthen their defensive line in the impending summer transfer window. The Red Devils are rumoured to have initiated contract negotiations with the 25-year-old defender in an effort to secure his services.

The outstanding performances of Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia drew attention to Napoli's Serie A campaign this year, during which they ended a 30-year championship drought. Kim Min-jae's contributions to the core of the Partenopei's defence, however, have not gone unnoticed. The South Korean, who joined the Italian club for a modest fee of $19.7 million (€18 million) last summer, has proved to be an exceptional acquisition, with his performances surpassing all expectations.

Kim rapidly established himself as one of the best defenders in Italy and Europe by demonstrating his resiliency, intelligence, and exceptional positional awareness. The 26-year-old has appeared in 33 Serie A matches this season, displaying his defensive prowess and contributing offensively with two goals and two assists.

Several elite clubs, including Liverpool, have expressed an interest in acquiring his services due to his outstanding performance. Similarly, Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed possible interest in the South Korean defender but it is Manchester United who are reportedly in the lead for Kim's signature.

According to multiple reports from Italy, the heavyweights of the Premier League are stepping up their efforts to sign Kim before a potential bidding war ensues. The Red Devils are reportedly aware of his contractual situation and the existence of a release clause in his current contract with Napoli, and have therefore initiated discussions with the player's agents to investigate the possibility of a transfer.

United have not only engaged in negotiations but also presented an enticing salary offer in its pursuit of Kim Min-jae. The proposed contract is said to be comparable to that of the club's top attacking players, highlighting the importance the club places on retaining defensive talent.
