According to sources close to the team, their lack of class they used to terminate the deal was the deciding factor for the footballer to take legal action.

If Barcelona did not have enough problems to end their monetary problems and keep Lionel Messi around, one more issue looms in the horizon as a major complication for Los Culés ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Earlier today, Spanish media outlets such as As and Marca revealed that one of the team's outcasts in the recently concluded season is set to file a lawsuit against the Blaugrana side for wrongful termination. The player in question is none other than Matheus Fernandes, one of Eric Abidal's worst signings as sporting director.

Fernandes played only 17 minutes for Los Culés in the 2020-21 season, and he never made his debut in La Liga. The only match he played came in the UEFA Champions League against Dynamo Kiyv, a game Los Blaugranas won four-nil. Fernandes was included in the Copa del Rey list of players, which granted him a winners' medal despite not featuring in a single game.

The main problem for the Catalan club is that Fernandes' deal ran until 2025, and their decision to cut ties with the footballer via an email may be seen by the court as a breach of the aforementioned deal. Now, the player has already stated that he will cease in his intention of justice being done.

Added to Barcelona's lack of class to fire the player, Fernandes has complained about how Ronald Koeman never really gave him a chance to prove himself as a Blaugrana footballer. The Brazilian midfielder has gone on the record stating that Koeman would allow him to warm up with the first team, but then he'd exclude him from all tactical work. According to Fernandes, Koeman used to snub him by stating he "was not Barça material," among other statements.

Legal proceedings will begin in the next few days, but the player's main concern will also be on the pitch, as he is yet looking to sign a new deal to continue playing.
