Fresh transfer news from Europe indicates that AC Milan have sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to French club Paris Saint-Germain.
The selling of the pair was part of Adriano Galliani’s plan to ease the Rossoneri’s financial problems. According to reports, the club had to spend more than €18M in total for Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva’s wages. Offloading the two stars means that AC Milan’s salary issues will lessen.

Club owner Silvio Berlusconi exclusively confirmed the transfer news to Italian media La Gazzetta dello Sport. He declared on Thursday night:

“Yes, I have sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG. We save 150 million euro over two years.”

At Milan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic made 85 appearances, scored 56 goals, made 27 assists and won two titles – the 2011 Seria A and the 2011 Supercoppa Italiana. At UEFA Euro 2012, the Swede proved he is not finished with a couple of great goals.

His performance was however not enough to save Sweden from crashing out in the first round. Meanwhile, Thiago Silva played 118 times for the Rossoneri in his three seasons with the club. He scored 6 goals.

AC Milan’s current policy is to raise a much cheaper and younger squad this summer. However, their goals in terms of success remains the same. The Rossoneri want to dethrone reigning Serie A champions Juventus whereas PSG seek authority as elites in Europe.
