The Lions are now six points clear at the top and still unbeaten, while Porto had to wait until the last minutes to earn only one point.

The 2020-21 Primeira Liga title race continues to keep fans on the edge of their seats, with Sporting in the driver's seat now more than ever.

The Lions were able to escape their busy schedule with the same number of points earned by Porto, who were not able to win both games and keep four points between themselves and the league leaders. With five games left, it seems that Sporting is set to end the season without a loss and with the title in their pockets.

Without further ado, let's have a look at what went down in the Portuguese top-flight this weekend.

Top four teams in the Primeira Liga until April 26

Sporting are six points ahead of Porto after their win over Braga, who are now almost out of the top 3 race. Meanwhile, the Dragons seem to be destined to end the season in second place after their draw against Moreirense. Last, but not least, Benfica's chances of a top 2 finish seem slim despite beating Santa Clara.

Primeira Liga's Top 3 scorers

Benfica's Haris Seferovic is now the league's top scorer after his midweek performance against Portimonense. The footballer surpassed Pedro Goncalves, who's dip in form has seen him surrender the goalscoring title.

Top matches to watch in the Primeira Liga from April 29-May 2, 2021

  • Tondela vs Benfica - The Eagles can't afford to drop points if they want to keep their slim options to win the title alive. More than that, securing the third place should be their priority before they clash against Porto in O Classico scheduled to be played on May 6.

  • Porto vs Famalicao - The Dragons are now six points behind Sporting with five games to play, and it seems that Conceicao's men now need a miracle to win the title. That miracle will only happen if they can win all their games, including their next clash at home against Famalicao.

  • Sporting vs Nacional - It will be a good game for Sporting if they are able to keep their unbeaten run against Nacional, and if they can add three points to their tally, they will be taking a huge step towards the title.
