Two first half goals by the Champions League chasing sides significantly boosted their season's ambitions on final day.

Leicester City were given the upper hand in their pursuit for a Champions League place in what was their final Premier League game of the season. The Foxes hosted Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium and were given the lead through Jamie Vardy inside the early minutes of the encounter.

Knowing the signficiance of a win to their top-four aspirations, Leicester set the ball rolling right from kick-off and put together a few interesting attacking moves which almost yielded a goal with Vardy and Iheanacho being actively involved. However, it did not take long for them to get in front with a penalty decision going in their favor in the 18th minute. Vardy then stepped up to convert to put the Foxes in front, incidentally lifting them into third place above both Chelsea and Liverpool who occupied fourth and fifth place respectively.

It did not take long for Liverpool to take matters into their own hands with Sadio Mane scoring a few minutes from half-time to lift his side back into the top four. Over at the Villa Park, Bertrand Traore dashed Chelsea's top-four hopes by scoring a stunner to put Aston Villa ahead. However, the impact of that goal was not felt much as Harry Kane will do the Blues a favor by scoring an equalizer for Spurs against the Foxes ahead of the break.

But that did not last with another Jamie Vardy penalty lifting Leicester back into third place seven minutes after play resumed for the second half. Over at the Villa Park again, Bertrand Traore earned another penalty to the dismay to Chelsea fans and the attempt was subsequently converted by the Anwar El-Ghazi.
