The international break is here, and while fans typically loathe pauses to club football, several exciting international fixtures will take place between now and the end of the break.
This includes the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers, which resumed on Thursday. However, the fun does not stop there, as several crucial games will take place over the weekend, including Friday, with continental powerhouses France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, and Spain all headlining our list.

Netherlands vs. France
The two top-placed teams in Group B face off this weekend, with the Netherlands welcoming their rivals to the Johan Cruyff Arena in a highly-anticipated Friday encounter. The two-time World Cup winners enter this clash in tremendous form, having won every single qualifier up till now. In fact, they are one of only two teams so far with a perfect record and will aim to keep that winning streak intact when they visit the Dutch.
The Netherlands, on the other hand, are in second but are a whopping six points adrift of the group leaders. That isn't the only concern as Ronald Koeman's men are level on points with third-placed Greece. Fortunately for the hosts, they have a game in hand over the Greeks and could reignite their ambition of topping the group if they beat the French on Friday and win their game in hand as well.
Portugal vs. Slovakia
Remember how France is one of two teams with a perfect record so far? Portugal is the other nation to have won every single game, boasting 18 points from their opening six qualifiers. Their most recent encounter was a 9-0 thrashing of Luxembourg, a victory they achieved without captain and all-time leading goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo. Will the Euro 2016 winners maintain their perfect start against Slovakia?
The visitors will have one thing and one thing only in mind: revenge. Three days before Portugal thrashed Luxembourg, Slovakia hosted Roberto Martinez's men but suffered a disappointing defeat, losing 1-0. They bounced back immediately, beating Liechtenstein 3-0 in the following game but will have to be at their best if they are to beat the continental powerhouse on Friday.
Italy vs. Malta
From one continental powerhouse to another, Italy takes to the field on Saturday, hosting Malta in an interesting game. The Azzurri currently trail group leaders England by six points but have played a game less. Meanwhile, Ukraine, who are third, is level on points with Spalletti's side, but the four-time World Cup winners have a game in hand over them as well. Victory over Malta would see the Italians move within three points of the Three Lions, which would make Italy's trip to Wembley in under a week all the more interesting.
Norway vs. Spain
Group A is arguably the most interesting group in the Euro qualifiers as Norway, Spain, and Scotland are all in contention for qualification. The earlier two face off this Sunday in what could be a pivotal clash for the Norwegians. They are third in the group, two points behind Spain despite playing a game extra, and six adrift of Scotland. Haaland and Co. recently beat Cyprus 4-0, their fourth win in a row following their 2-1 loss to Scotland in June, and will be aiming to maintain this run.
Spain, on the other hand, enters this clash on the back of an even better result. La Furia Roja locked horns with Scotland, the group leaders, on Thursday and beat the Tartan Army 2-0. A controversial VAR decision aided in this win, but it was a triumph nonetheless, with Morata and Co. moving within three points of the leaders. Victory over Norway would be crucial, but the 2010 World Cup winners will face Erling Haaland this time around, unlike in the reverse fixture, which they won 3-0.
