The legendary Azteca Stadium will become the first stadium in history to host opening games for three different editions of the tournament.

The 2026 World Cup will come with historic events for the entire competition, and the opening match could not be an exception.

Just like in 1970 and in 1986, Mexico's Estadio Azteca will host the opening game in 2026, beating cities such as New York and Dallas. Canada and the United States will also have opening matches, but things will kick off in Mexico for the third time.

Speaking of Canada and the United States, both countries have also allocated their first match to a couple of their most important cities. Canada will see Toronto hosting the first World Cup game in Toronto, while Los Angeles will do the honors for the United States, both of those cities in June 12.
