Chelsea have rejected Inter Milan's opening bid for Romelu Lukaku, a new report from Italy has revealed. The Nerazzurri are exploring the prospect of bringing the 29-year-old striker back to the club on loan but have had their initial offering in the region of $5.7M thrown out by the Blues.
Romelu Lukaku's imminent departure from Chelsea is no secret and the player is said to be keen on a move back to the club which he joined the Premier League outfit from for a record-fee in less an 12 months ago. With the 'second-coming' experiment failing, the Stamford Bridge outfit are looking to cut their losses and offload the striker who has also become unpopular within the club's fanbase.
On Wednesday, both Chelsea and Inter Milan were involved in direct talks to discuss the terms of the deal. According to Sky Sports Italia, the two clubs have not yet come together on a loan fee for the 29-year-old, with the Blues rejecting the Serie A club's first official offer. However, both clubs are keen to find an agreement in the coming days.
At the moment, Inter are waiting for Chelsea to make their first formal demand in response to the offer. The fee is expected to be in the region of $15.7M.
