About
TV Slovenia 1 History, Coverage, Features
TV Slovenia 1 is a Slovenian public television channel owned and operated by Radiotelevizija Slovenija. The channel was launched in 1958, becoming the first television channel in the country at the time. The channel has also been referred to as TV SLO 1.
Over the years, TV Slovenia 1 has been categorized as a general entertainment channel, with news, films, documentaries, talk shows, children’s programming, public interest programs, variety shows and TV series. Although the channel has mostly included programs produced within Slovenia’s borders, some of the shows and movies presented in the channel have been produced abroad. When this has happened, the channel has dubbed the show’s original language to air it in Slovenian.
Speaking about sports, TV Slovenia 1 has frequently surrendered sports coverage to TV Slovenia 2, one of its sister channels. Nevertheless, the channel has also been used to cover some of the top football events in the world such as the FIFA World Cup. Additional sports coverage may also include highlights for some of the top football leagues in the world, which have been aired in specialized shows and general news programs.
TV Slovenia 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was developed during the late 2010s and aired in 2011. Both feeds may still be available to watch in different regions of the country.
