The French outfit stunned the former Premier League champions to progress to the last four stage.

After witnessing RB Leipzig secure a penultimate UEFA Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain by stunning Atletico Madrid on Thursday night, football fans were served another spectacle in Manchester City versus Olympique Lyon. When all was said and done, it was the latter to defied odds to seal a semi-final date with Bayern Munich, cruising to a 3-1 win inside the Estádio José Alvalade.

Lyon were ushered in control in the 24th minute with a brilliant finish from Maxwel Cornet. The Frenchman capitalized on a rebound to send a low drive past a displaced Ederson from the edge of City's penalty area.

In the 69th-minute minute, Pep Guardiola's side had their breakthrough thanks to Kevin De Bruyne. However, a comeback was made impossible moments later, with substitute Moussa Dembele sealing victory for Lyon with a brace.
