The PSG superstar was reduced to tears as he was led down the tunnel on a stretcher.

Neymar Jr handed Paris Saint-Germain a massive injury scare on Sunday night after finding himself at the end of a horrific tackle in the defeat to Olympique Lyon. The 28-year-old Brazilian forward was forced off on a stretcher after Thiago Mendes' late challenge left him with what many perceive to be a broken ankle.

The classic encounter between PSG and Lyon ultimately ended with the latter extending its unbeaten run in all competitions to 11 games. All thanks to Tino Kadewere's first half strike at Parc des Princes, Rudi Garcia's men edged past Ligue 1's defending champions into second place with a point currently separating the two sides.

However, the fixture which had its fair share of drama presented an anticlimactic end for the hosts who will now have to deal with the ramifications of Neymar's injury. Deep into stoppage time, the former Barcelona superstar was caught by Thiago Mendes' gruesome tackle with footages showing his ankle twist before taking a tumble to the ground. The attacker agonizingly screamed out and signalled to his side's medical team for treatment while his attacker was sent off.

The extent of Neymar's injury is currently unknown but the fact that the Brazilian was taken down the tunnel on the stretcher does not give a positive indication. PSG boss Thomas Tuchel revealed in his post-match remarks that his side's playmaker will be subjected to tests in the coming hours. The result could come as a huge blow as the player has already missed seven matches this term through injury, coronavirus and a ban.
