Man Utd ace suffers injury ahead of Bayern trip

Huge blow for Manchester United as key player is ruled out for up to two months ahead of Bayern trip

September 18, 2023 By Ali M.
The Red Devils head to the Allianz Arena following back-to-back defeats against Arsenal and Brighton but will be without one key player.

Things continue to get worse for Manchester United ahead of their midweek trip to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League as Erik ten Hag has lost another key player to injury.

The Premier League giants head to the Allianz Arena for their first game of the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League campaign after suffering an embarrassing defeat at home to Brighton over the weekend, losing 3-1 to De Zerbi's high-flying side.

Not only were the Red Devils lacking clinicalness in the final third, but the English giants were also shaky defensively. And to make things worse, Ten Hag has now lost another defender to injury.

That player is Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the Englishman suffering a hamstring problem. The right-back was on the bench for the Brighton defeat and came on as a late substitute when Manchester United were chasing the game but Ten Hag stated that this was due to illness.

However, the club have now announced that he picked up a hamstring issue late on in the Brighton defeat. While the official statement simply said he will be out for "several weeks", the Athletic reports that he could miss up to two months of action. This is another devastating blow to the already injury-plagued Red Devils.

While Diogo Dalot started Manchester United's last three games, albeit two were at left-back, and performed well, Ten Hag is low on numbers as Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Raphael Varane are already sidelined.

Additionally, the Red Devils are also without Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Jadon Sancho, and Antony — the latter two's absence is not down to injury, however.

This means Rashford and Co. head to the Allianz Arena having lost their last two games and having suffered defeats in three out of their opening five games this season. Bayern Munich did suffer a stumble as well, drawing 1-1 at home to Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, but remain a daunting task for Ten Hag's men nonetheless.
